DYAO presents Art & Poetry: East Meets West
DYAO is proud to present "Art & Poetry: East Meets West." Led by DYAO Music Director Wes Kenney, the Young Artists Orchestra opens its season with an offering of unforgettable music. The program includes Antonin Dvořák's Symphony No. 6, a composition that marks the start of Dvorak’s integrative style of composition, influenced by conservatism, modernism, and the nationalism of his time.
Colorado Symphony Concertmaster Yumi Hwang-Williams is the featured soloist in "Fire and Blood," a highly engaging 25-minute concerto by Michael Daugherty that draws inspiration from artwork by Diego Rivera and Frida Khalo, and integrates traditional orchestral instruments with unorthodox sounding sources, like car brake drums. “Symphonic Poem in 3 Notes” by Tan Dun, best known for his score for the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, rounds out this ambitious and thrilling program.
PLEASE NOTE:
The Colorado Symphony announced that it will require facial coverings for indoor public performances at Boettcher Concert Hall beginning September 1, 2021, and joins the resident companies of the Denver Performing Arts Complex — Colorado Ballet, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and Opera Colorado — in requiring proof of full vaccination and facial coverings for indoor public performances starting October 1, 2021.
